A Day of Spontaneous Symmetry

After witnessing the magic of Donna Mikkelsen as she beautified the construction fence of a new development on Rt 9D in Beacon, I commissioned a mural for the BEAHIVE conference room.

To coincide with its installation we decided to celebrate her phenomenal work through a temporary exhibition in our main room — and that led to a live drawing performance and a community drawing workshop during Beacon’s Second Saturday in September.

She created the pieces on display live during the opening, as enthusiastic locals and tourists streamed through during the day.

Donna has been exploring ambidextrous drawing for 25+ years. She has developed her own unique style and has turned her passion into a daily practice of drawing meditation.
