Briefly describe your work.

As an editor for Reader’s Digest, I spend my days editing and publishing copy, pitching stories optimized for a multitude of distribution channels, and crafting SEO-based content plans.

For AMK Restaurant Group (AMKRG), I have worn many hats! When we opened Liberty Street Bistro, I was a hostess while my husband ran the kitchen. Over time, I carved out a role that included marketing and social media work for both the Bistro and Newburgh Flour Shop.

What do you love about what you do?

I love refining something so that it flows better. And, how wonderful is it to be paid to read for a living?

With our businesses, I love bringing visibility and awareness to our brands. I even played food photographer at the Flour Shop and that was so rewarding!

How did you start (your work)?

I got started as a summer intern at The Sentinel newspaper before my sophomore year of college. The Sentinel covered New Windsor, Newburgh, and Cornwall, and no joke, I started out as the newspaper’s “sob sister,” aka rewriting obituaries from the Times Herald-Record.

I majored in Journalism at NYU, and spent most of my summers interning for either The Sentinel or Mid-Hudson News. My senior year, I interned for Good Housekeeping Magazine.

Where do you see your work going in the next year… five?

The digital media landscape changes so quickly that this is a tough question! I see myself still editing in some form, but I don’t quite yet know what that will be.

As for the Bistro and Bakery, I hope to continue to help grow our businesses.

What do you like best about BEAHIVE?

Everything! I love working in the desk pit a few days a week and I’ve met some wonderful, creative people there. It’s a good spot to get out of my usual working zone (my dining room table right now).

What’s your favorite thing about the local community?

My husband and I grew up in Cornwall, lived in Upper Manhattan, but we have spent most of our married life back here at home in the Hudson Valley. I love how close-knit the business owner community is and how everyone supports each other.

Anything else you want us to know?

My husband and I are the parents of a fiery little 14-month-old named Lena who keeps us on our toes and is a frequent flyer at the Bistro and Bakery. Her personal favorites are the Labneh (Bistro) and Croissant (Bakery). When I’m not working or running after her, I am a yogi at heart and practice hot vinyasa whenever I can!
