The agenda for the meeting will include the following:

Bike racks
We’ve got the first two bicycle posts installed on Main Street. Now we need to work on the remaining 48. Also, getting a full-size bicycle rack installed at the Beacon Community Resource Center.

Bikeable Beacon

Bicycle workshops (this is key!)
We are looking to develop several workshops/classes for the BCRC this spring. These will be simple, useful workshops designed to give people information on how to use their bicycle for trips to town or the train station. I was thinking two workshops to start, both very basic: the first would be a general introduction–how to ride your bicycle comfortably in traffic, how to select a bicycle best suited for your needs. The second would cover outfitting a bicycle for shopping or commuting to the train, as well as basic maintenance and how to fix a flat. If you would like to help present a workshop, please step to the front of the line. Also, maybe help with designing a poster to advertise the classes.

Hudson Fjord bike/hike trail
Mark Wildonger of Scenic Hudson is helping to relaunch this project, which will eventually connect Beacon and Cold Spring. We’ll discuss ways our group can help move this key link along.

The City of Beacon is not going to be funding any of this in the near future. We’ll look at the possibility of finding grant money.
