Please give a big round of bzzz to our new community activator, Sami Aviles! She initially joined the Newburgh hive as a member, and we quickly brought her on the team.
Sami will leverage her nerdy, operational superpowers and joyful charm to help BEAHIVE run smoothly (for members and non-members alike) and have greater impact in the community through our programming.
efficiency, operations, & systems coach with a long work history in client-facing roles.
I’m passionate about…
helping people invite more ease, and as a result more joy, into their work and personal lives.
Briefly describe your work.
I use my nerdy skills to help early-stage service providers (most frequently in coaching, fitness, and wellness) create space for the work they actually love to do by embracing the power of systems and integrating tech and efficiency tools.
Time is precious, and I’m here to build seamless, less-tedious experiences so folks can enjoy the time they do have and reduce burnout!
What do you love about what you do?
I get to take my affinity for color-coding, planning, and meticulous attention to detail, and use it to facilitate a small business’s growth and set healthy boundaries and routines for a small business owner’s life.
How did you start (your work)?
Nearly all of the jobs I’ve had were with smaller organizations and — phew — did I see the chaos that came from too many hats being worn without strong processes or proper communication in place!
It ran especially deep in the fitness community, where I got my start around 3 years ago helping fitpros (who are independent contractors by default!) navigate all of the obligations they had to different studios and clients.
Where do you see your work going in the next year… five?
In 2022, I’ll be focused on building trust with small service-based businesses. Beyond, I’m team sustainable growth, which means paying close attention to the feedback (and hopefully success!) of clients I work with over the coming years. To me, the key formula is: collaborate, learn, fine-tune, repeat.
What do you like best about BEAHIVE?
This is hard to pick! Ultimately, it comes down to the people. I lost a crucial hub of community in Brooklyn when COVID hit, and I finally feel like I’ve found my new “home base.” Everyone radiates warmth and a desire to genuinely connect at BEAHIVE. It’s pretty spectacular.
What’s your favorite thing about the local community?
Newburgh feels truly like a community to a T. Neighbors looking out for one another, a city with a rich history, a vibrant scene on the local and regional level. If you respect Newburgh and what it has established, it’s ready to welcome you with open arms.
Anything else you want us to know?
All of the above is why I’m also excited to be BEAHIVE’s new community activator! And I love connecting with new folks.
